The high-volume, “shoot and burn” approach to making money as a full-time photographer felt too transactional and just didn’t align with the way I wanted to do business. I wanted a better experience for my clients and wanted to offer more services but I didn’t have the right pricing or mindset in place to get there.
Because I didn’t plan ahead and didn’t have any boundaries, I said yes waaaaay too often because yay money, but this resulted in a schedule imbalance and missing out on being present with my sons. I took on projects that didn’t excite me, which left me feeling uninspired, burned out, and anxious (not ideal conditions for building a sustainable business).
I knew I wanted to offer my clients more - a full-service boutique business that didn’t simply capture beautiful images, but that finally got their images out of their iCloud or social media feed and up on their walls where they could be admired as the touchpoint in time that they were. I realized too that my clients wanted more than a pretty profile picture, and that I was failing to deliver.
For years I thought that I could charge more once I attended just one more workshop, purchased more camera & lighting gear, more photography props, or had the perfect studio setup. These lies left me spending so much money and time on stuff I didn’t need and they never resulted in more income. I knew it was time to quit or time to make a drastic change.
Being a solo entrepreneur is lonely (even with the best of photography friends nearby!), and although my husband was a good sounding board and encourager…I knew I needed more: more support, better accountability, and a solid business plan. I was stuck making part-time money while working full-time, and that’s when I knew it was time to take the leap and completely shake it up.

Hey, I’m Ashley!
For the past 8+ years, my lens has captured mamas, newborns, and families in the greater Sioux Falls area, but my business didn’t always have a lock on success. Like you, I struggled in my early years to combine the work my soul loved to do with the business know-how I needed to run my photography business efficiently and profitably. It wasn’t until I hired my own coach and drastically leveled up my business model that everything began to change.
The Rhysing Entrepreneur Program was created to equip women like yourself with the tools and confidence needed to make more money in less amount of time. I’m no stranger to coaching - my passion for encouraging and empowering other women was fostered in my work as a decade long collegiate volleyball coach at Augustana University. After years of honing my own signature process and client experience, it just feels right to be coaching once again.
When I’m not behind the camera or getting creatively recharged inside the walls of my studio, Rhys. - you’ll find me soaking up mama moments with my four sons, sipping a glass of Chardonnay and enjoying the company of my husband, Jeff, at my side.
